Parasols were once more than a shady place out of the sun during the 19th century parasols were also love tokens and wedding gifts. It would have been a grave impropriety for a gentleman to present a parasol to a lady for whom his intentions were not serious. One of the most outstanding examples was the parasol presented to Bettina Rothschild by her fiance. Made of silk and covered with gauze and lace, the tips were encrusted with emeralds and gems. These rabbits use their parasol to try to stay cool despite the effects of global warming. Ice cream and a cooler also help. The bottle of sunscreen labeled 'Kyoto Tan' refers to the Kyoto protocol, an environmental treaty to which the US has not agreed. 'Ward Hunt' refers to an Antarctic ice shelf which has broken in two as a result of climate change. On the interior is a bumper crop of leaves and nuts (and the artist's signature acorn) from a cob tree. The '124' engraved on the interior denotes this as the 124th box figurine David Lawrence has carved for Harmony Kingdom.
