A mere two hours before the carving demonstration at Clair de Lune Convention 2000, Harmony Kingdom’s second multi-day convention held in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Peter still had no idea what he would carve. As he wandered around the marina, inspiration struck when he sighted his first snapping turtle. The turtles on “Slow Dance” are kitted out in Roaring Twenties style to commemorate the convention’s 1920’s theme and swing dance competition. The lady looks elegant in her plume and feather boa, but her long necklace seems to have come undone. Pearls roll underfoot along with the key to room 664 – the room Peter shared with Adam Binder at the event. The gent sloshes his drink on his dance partner while Peter’s signature mouse hides out in a hole in his hat. The turtles on Version 1 have competition numbers pinned to their backs: “1” on the male and “22” on the female. Prior to the convention, Peter attended a history-making New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox game where the Red Sox suffered their largest ever defeat (22-1). The interior of Version 1 portrays a baby turtle and more loose pearls. The competition numbers are removed from Version Infinity, and the interior is a close up of a snapping turtle’s face.

Although Harmony Kingdom is still manufactured at Wimberley Mills near Stroud in Gloucestershire, since Martin Perry, the founder retired in August 2005, marketing and shipping of the pieces is done from the USA office at Harmony Ball Company in Ohio. This means that we have to consolidate our orders before having them shipped to us. We are currently taking deliveries about every 6 weeks and so there may be a delay with your order if the piece is not already in stock. We will advise by email. Hope this doesn't cause a problem.
