Ancient Greek philosophers were the first to depict the ourobouros, a fiery serpant curled in a circle devouring its own tail. For them, it symbolized the cyclic nature of time. The word dragon also derives from an Ancient Greek word – drakon - which means to see or to watch. It was a dragon who, in Greek mythology, watched and guarded the golden apples in the Garden of the Three Maidens, the Hesperides. These apples were given to Hera as a wedding gift by Zeus. The dragon was later slain by Heracles / Hercules. 132 carved into the lid lip signifies that this is carver David Lawrence’s 132nd piece for Harmony Kingdom. Look for David’s signature acorn, and the fiercely protected applies within the interior.

Although Harmony Kingdom is still manufactured at Wimberley Mills near Stroud in Gloucestershire, since Martin Perry, the founder retired in August 2005, marketing and shipping of the pieces is done from the USA office at Harmony Ball Company in Ohio. This means that we have to consolidate our orders before having them shipped to us. We are currently taking deliveries about every 6 weeks and so there may be a delay with your order if the piece is not already in stock. We will advise by email. Hope this doesn't cause a problem.
